Primary discovered 11 October 1985 by Fric and Gilbrech at Palomar Observatory, USA. Linked to precovery observations from 1979. Alternate designations 1953 RK1, 1969 TZ4, 1979 YG9, 1985 VQ1, 1987 GD1, 1990 CX.

Companion discovered by D. Higgins, P. Pravec, and P. Kusnirak based on lightcurve observations from 15-25 July 2007; reported 2 August 2007.
