This is a preliminiary compilation of data on known extrasolar planets and brown dwarfs. The planets of the solar system are included for comparison. Listed brown dwarfs include only T dwarfs (methane dwarfs) and objects with measured masses; spectrally-identified brown dwarfs are not up to date. Much data is uncertain; for more up-to-date and detailed information consult Jean Schneider's Extra-solar Planets Catalog; the California and Carnegie Planet Search Catalog of Nearby Exoplanets; and the CDS SIMBAD Astronomical Database.

Objects are listed by increasing distance from the Sun. First table lists planets and brown dwarfs orbiting stars; second table lists isolated brown dwarfs and planets; third table lists stellar companions of stars with planets. For most planets/brown dwarfs orbiting stars, only m sin i is measured and listed mass is the median probable value. Temperature is mean effective temperature assuming albedo=0.5. Type column n indicates probable status as follows (with counts in parentheses):
