The gravity of the Moon binds it together with enough energy that it could not be shattered by a nuclear explosion. Also, the yield of a nuclear explosive device is not this difficult to predict: there is an absolute upper limit on its yield that would result from 100% efficiency of the nuclear reactions. The actual yield of most nuclear weapons is 1-20% of this value.
