Description:

A gunman shot several individuals outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, but was unable to gain entry to the clinic; a standoff of several hours ensued during which several police officers were shot before the attacker surrended. Those killed included two civilians (Jennifer Markovsky and Ke'Arre Stewart) and one police officer (Garrett Swasey); 4 other civilians and 5 other police officers were injured.

The attacker, Robert Lewis Dear, was mentally unstable; he had a police record for attacking his then-wife and for animal cruelty; his ex-wife reported that he had put glue in the locks of abortion clinics in the past.

Consequences: 3 killed, 9 injured
