Note on the following two tables: these figures are not complete. They are based on data from the Israeli foreign ministry and the list of 1,215 attacks at "Chronology of terrorist attacks in Israel". The "Chronology" list is known to be incomplete for some years. For annual data, where two figures are given for fatalities, the first is from the Israeli foreign ministry and the second figure (in parenthesis) is for only those attacks listed individually in the "Chronology" list. Data on injuries, particularly before 1968, is also incomplete. Figures from the "Chronology" list include casualties among terrorists during attacks and military casualties in certain cases during counterterrorism operations, leading to differences from the official Israeli figures. For monthly data, only data from the "Chronology" list is included. Data for terrorist attacks outside Israel are not included.
Total reported casualties from terrorist attacks 1948-2016 (including attacks not listed in the Chronology) are 3,549 killed and 14,227 injured (these figures include terrorists). Casualties in these terrorist attacks include at least 222 children killed and 239 injured (these figures are incomplete). So far the 2001-2006 wave of terrorism in Israel is the worst period to date.
