Type of event: accidental exposure involving radiogram unit

Description:

A defective radiogram unit exposed an individual to radiation from its iridium-192 source; doses to the hand was about 500 rad, causing temporary reddening of the fingers, and whole body dose was about 1 rad.

Consequences: 1 injury.
