Type of event: accidental exposure to radiography source

Description:

A transport container containing an iridium-192 radiography source was received from abroad. It had been misidentified as empty and was handled as such, resulting in a radiation injury to the skin on the right thumb of a worker. Whole body dose was about 0.2 rad.

Consequences: 1 injury.
