Description:

23 members of Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement seize Japanese Ambassador's residence, with several hundred hostages, all but 72 later released; Peruvian soldiers storm the compound 22 April and save all but one hostage; 1 hostage, 2 soldiers, and 14 guerillas killed.

Consequences: 17 killed, ? injured
