12 soldiers killed, at least 3 injured by Katyusha rocket strike in Kiryat Shmona; soldiers were attending briefing prior to deployment across Lebanon border; rocket was fired by Hezbolla from within Lebanon as part of 27-day barrage of 2,900 rockets (through 6 Aug).

Consequences: 12 killed, 3 injured
